Terre di Canossa The ring of the Pietra di Bismantova in e-bike
The itinerary allows you to observe the Pietra di Bismantova from each side, grasping, thus, all the various aspects of its shape. The itinerary, which is ring-shaped and 15 km long, allows you to visit fractions and rural hamlets of great interest such as Carnola, Vologno, Maro, Casale and Campolungo. The entire road route that we propose can be extended by descending to a village called Pianello, where the Dorgola brook flows in to the Secchia River, in a natural environment rich in grottos, minerals, flora and fauna, a destination for researchers and nature-lovers alike. It's the Triassic Gypsums zone, where a few reliefs rise to the maximum height of 900 m, composed by anhydritic formations which originated about 200 million years ago. Mt Rosso and Mt Merlo, Mt Carù and Mt La Pianellina constitute a prominence, almost unique in northern Italy and host numerous protected botanical species.
